In detail

What is an X-ray?

An X-ray is a quick image, most often of bones, lungs and the abdomen. It uses X-rays, and the dose of an ordinary X-ray is low. Under radiation protection rules a doctor judges whether the X-ray is justified, so bring a referral or a doctor's recommendation with the area and reason. Always report pregnancy or possible pregnancy before the X-ray. In the price list X-rays are marked RDG.

Chest, spine and joint X-rays

The most common are chest and heart X-rays, X-rays of the spine and joints (shoulder, hip, knee, hand, wrist, ankle, foot) and X-rays of individual bones, for example after an injury. Skull, nasal bone and sinus X-rays and plain X-rays of the abdomen and urinary tract are also taken.

Bone age in children and bone densitometry

A bone age X-ray is usually of the left hand and wrist and helps the doctor assess a child's bone age while monitoring growth. Bone densitometry (DEXA) measures bone density, usually of the hip and spine, with a very low dose of radiation, on a doctor's recommendation.
