Dr Marko Gmijović, PhD

Dr Marko Gmijović, PhD, is a specialist in general surgery with a special interest in hepatobiliary surgery. He graduated in 2003 from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Niš, where he completed his specialist training in general surgery in 2019 and in 2024 defended his doctoral thesis on the molecular mechanisms of ischaemia-reperfusion injury during liver resection. He works as a surgeon at the University Clinical Centre Niš and as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine in Niš. He has authored and co-authored research papers on liver resection, colorectal cancer liver metastases and diseases of the pancreas.
